The Foundation Students

Work In Progress

Work in Progress: DKF Students share their work

The D.K. Foundation is now five years old and in that time many students have been and gone and some who arrived early on are still with us, making real progress. Each student featured in Work in Progress has made headway because he or she has cleared a space in their lives to make room for their astrological studies and worked consistently hard.

In Work in Progress these students share their work and are willing to answer any questions that interested website visitors might want put to them, whether those questions are about their work, their experience of being with the Foundation, or about astrology in general. There is no party line. Students are encouraged to speak honestly about their experiences.

Work in Progress commences with Are you making the Correct Statement, a series by Megan Baierski on reading aright the message of the Sun and Moon in a natal chart. In this series she will work through each of the twelve houses of the chart. Megan Baierski

About Megan: Before signing on to study with the D.K. Foundation, Megan did her own research through books (Liz Greene, March & McEvers, Pottenger/Dobyns, Rudhyar, Gail Fairfield, Stephen Arroyo). All of which she found very insightful and to which she still refers.  Wanting to study with CPA (Centre for Psychological Astrology), she discovered they did not have a correspondence course and so searched the web and found there were over 4000 sites to choose from! She narrowed it down to esoteric astrology which is how she finds herself with us.

Megan lives in California, USA and teaches dance and gymnastics to children.

As well as her astrological studies she is taking a natural healing course and has a course in iridology lined up for the summer or 2003. She considers that all these branches of study complement each other and expects to take her astrological knowledge into the field of healing eventually.

Megan may be contacted on mail@dkfoundation.co.uk. Please indicate clearly that your question is for Megan.

About the Series Are you making the Correct Statement

This series is based upon the following assumptions:

1.) The Sun is a star and not a planet. It is the representative of a higher order than the planets and in the horoscope should be understood to stand for the Egoic plane, through which the first aspect of the soul expresses itself.

The Sun represents our identity or who we understand ourself to be.  Developing that identity is the prime requirement of the lifetime. This means expressing the qualities of the sign and being active in the area of life in which the Sun is found and consciously linking in those areas of life indicated by the house that the Sun rules accidentally.

The Sun is the natural ruler of House 5 and so its expression in a horoscope will always imply awareness of individuality and creative capacity, qualities that traditionally the father encourages.

For this reason, aspects to the Sun describe the experiences with the father around the issue of developing and expressing identity.

2.) The Moon is a satellite of the Earth and the relationship between the two is one of mutual dependency as, energetically, it is fed by all that dies on Earth and, in turn, regulates organic life on Earth through which life takes form.

In a horoscope, the  Moon represents the past - past forms, past identities, past experiences - that are recorded in our psyche and expressed through our emotional  natures.

The Moon also represents the mother, the function of whom is to preserve continuity, and the home that is the place of shelter for the form.

For this reason, aspects to the Moon describe the experiences with the mother around the issue of receiving nurturing.

The Moon is the natural ruler of House 4 and so its expression in a horoscope will always imply the conditioning effect of the past from the family, the culture of birth, racial heritage.

3) Our Sun position describes our true identity.

Sun in Libra

With the Sun In Libra a person is developing greater awareness of others. In his dealings with others the Libran is developing the qualities of diplomacy, fairness, harmony and cooperation, but above all, of equality. This individual is learning to respond to the concept of justice in an impartial manner that, at the same time, extends to himself. Many people with this placement are trying to throw off the habit of servility or domination by authority. The Libran tends to be a people pleaser and is cautious to not antagonize others. This individual can be easily swayed by the opinions of others until there is a conceptual understanding of the need to balance opposing viewpoints with spiritual values.

Sun in the Seventh House

The seventh house is the House of Libra and relates to the process of developing a greater understanding of self through the mirror reflections of others. It is through the perception of self and the interaction with another that one can recognize the missing expressions of self. The individual continues to look for another to fulfill the missing expressions of self in the search of the 'The One' or 'The Perfect Match' until there is a personal internal balance and equilibrium of the contrasting expressions of male/female qualities.

Statement of the Seventh House Sun

I entered this life to establish a balance of male/female projections. As long as I can remember, I was fascinated by the idea of finding everlasting love with a partner who would respect me, and my contribution.  As far as I knew, it was the means to happiness if I truly met my other half. My partner and I took on our pre-ordained male/female roles. He was decisive; I was submissive. I devoted my self and my life to my other half. Happiness eluded us and we found ourselves opposing each other on everything. I found my self alone - again and again - and in time came to understand the necessity of relating with another as an individual with personal goals of my own, rather than as the role model I assumed. I learned to be honest with my self and with another. I learned to be assertive as well as cooperative, rather than submit myself to the will of another to avoid friction and discord. I learned to receive as well as to give. I learned that the matter of sex in a relationship has to be dealt with in accordance with each individual's understanding of responsibility. I learned that the way to deal with opposing forces is through the mediation of the intellect with a progressive sense of values.

Moon in Libra

With the Moon in Libra an individual is instinctively pleasant, charming, sociable, friendly, diplomatic. The individual needs to be around people and thrives on popularity. There is a tendency to be easily swayed by the opinions of others and indecisive when insecure and stressed.  The mother would be friendly, popular and well thought of, and she would probably provide you with many social activities. But at times she may seem so busy with her social demands that you feel excluded.

Moon in the Seventh House

An individual with the Moon in the seventh house has a memory of experiencing security and purposefulness with another in a personal relationship or marriage and seeks to relive that memory. In many cases, he will have been born to parents who had a conventionally successful marriage. The challenge for the individual with the Moon in the seventh house is to move on independently from that and consider a relationship from an objective and intelligent point of view rather than a subjective and emotional one.

Statement of Seventh House Moon

I remember the experience of happiness, security and productivity in a personal relationship. I feel secure and self-assured when there is another that I can identify with and share my life with. I want to have a partner in my life because without one I feel exposed, lonely and inadequate.
