What it Means to be Human at this Time
(3):
The Journey
In the earlier articles which make up this series, we have attempted to provide a context for the ‘rolling up’ of the Sixth Ray, of which the Hierarchy gave us notice through the agency of the Bailey books, and which we are now experiencing in our daily lives.
The principal considerations are:
1. Whilst the Sixth Ray has shaped spirituality in our time, the models with which we are so familiar are simply expressions of how, in the Piscean Age, humanity and Those Who guide us have encouraged us to engage with the opportunity to raise vibration. It is not, one might say, all there is to spirituality. There are very many ways that we can engage with the process of raising vibration, which involves, essentially, creating a positive relationship with life.
Spirituality is the gift of the Holy Spirit, the Third Aspect of Divinity, which creates within Man the urge to refine and improve himself. This urge exists within us independent of any form that spirituality has taken in the past and will take in the future; and independent of any of the Luminaries and Teachers, who enter our world to help us express and organise this urge in everyday life.
Our need calls down a response from a higher level, which then finds new openings for human consciousness, and helps us construct the path that leads to them.
This process in its entirety is spirituality. Buddhism, Christianity, Islam and the whole raft of New Age splinters of Truth are responses, examples of the process at work in everyday life. They have given us models to guide us.
The spiritual path goes ever onwards and will do so for as long as humanity exists, because the Holy Spirit has made Man both a path seeker and a path maker. The path is always made within ourselves, and will connect us to a higher level.
2. Our responsiveness to the infinite number of forms that spirituality can take is conditioned by the times: by the cultural influences at work in our society; and by the patterns existing in the heavens, which are in constant motion. Once a model becomes out of date, its capacity to raise vibration diminishes and, because it incites the intellect (throat centre) rather than stimulates the aspirations (solar plexus - heart), it is likely to increase scepticism and negativity about spirituality itself, by focussing upon its form aspect, rather than the underpinning process.
We have to move with the times. Each generation has to re-find and repackage spiritual truths for itself, and every so often, in response to planetary changes, there will be the need to create new models.
3. We are in times now where a new model is required.
The spirituality of the Sixth Ray has served times in which circumstances encouraged refining by means of examining our inheritance, holding on to and defending what we understand to be wholesome, honest, just and kind, and discarding the other. In this way, the seed of Christ consciousness has been sown and nurtured in individuals and made our societies more compassionate.
The kind of spirituality with which we are familiar, in many respects is the spirituality of people with attachments and a sense of belonging. We have stayed within our holding patterns, whether that is through choice or compulsion, and sought to make them useful to us spiritually. And it is the case that all seeds, including the seed of Christ consciousness, need stable conditions to be able to grow roots. There is not spiritual aspiration where there has not first been desire and yearning for attachments.
The extent to which we can be considered to have succeeded in making our attachments serve us spiritually is beyond the scope of this article. What concerns us here is that this approach cannot serve us as 2012 advances upon us, because everything that has given us our sense of who we are will be swept away. Our holding patterns and attachments will be destroyed.
The Fourth Ray, which is fluid and which finds temporary expression through ever-changing forms, governs this time.
If we are to engage with the unfamiliar and look for the potential within it, rather than dismiss it as aberrant and frightening as we cling to the past and subside into memory, our spirituality has to prepare us. This way we will find the path again, even though the landscape may have changed, the familiar forms have been swept away and we may barely know ourselves.
At any time, in any circumstances, we can pick up the path and strike out again and make every experience part of our journey, because the path exits for as long as we exist. It goes ever onwards and it will not run out on us if we understand that we are the path makers. We have to live this as a truth now, and not simply engage with it as an intellectual proposition. We construct the path from a positive relationship with life and from the desire to do better. This awareness is the gift that the Holy Spirit has given us.
Shamballa has said that for as long as humanity is focused upon itself, looking inwards and refining itself, we are scarcely visible to them: we are simply shapes moving under water. It is only when we free ourselves from self-projection and, like a salmon jumping against the current, break the surface to enter into a wider understanding of the point of existence, can they see us and work with us.
They urge us therefore to build this awareness into our spiritual models, focusing upon the things that inspire and make our spirits leap so that our intellects and physical being will follow. Our quest now is for a new relationship with life, which will strengthen and inspire us and rekindle a sense of adventure. Our personal quests are no longer into the past to find out what has made us who we are, but into the unknown in order to discover all that we might be.
How we perceive and engage with the destruction of all that is familiar will determine our relationship with the new order. We hold this power within us. Eventually our spirituality has to help us find it.
With our perceptions we mould the Universe around us.
A new astrology is being unrolled for this time when the shift in the planetary axis in 2012 will make all our tables and computations obsolete. On this website in the coming year (2011), we will introduce this new astrology.
Suffice it here to say that we will each need a star to guide us, a star to nurture us and a constellation to hold us. Collectively, they will create the vessel, which can move consciousness on, out of the confines of the lesser Zodiac (the astrologer’s Tropical Zodiac) that we presently use as the frame work for our horoscopes, which expresses and seals us into humanity’s self-reflection. We have to get out of this place now. What better time to leave than when all our tables that chart it will be inaccurate?
