-
experience
brought to the personality =
exploration
-
contribution
made through this sign =
connections and communication
-
key to understanding
its energy = it is communicative, moving between the
known and the unknown
Aerial,
intellectual nature
- Experimenting quality - Personality focus
Dual
intellectual sign - learns to perceive the duality between the humane and
divine aspects of life, the spiritual and the physical aspects of their
own existence. Link to the ‘tree of knowledge’, permanent interest in
learning. Often very busy trying to find ways to transform the duality
into a symbiosis and synthesis where body and soul are no longer
separated, but operate as a whole/unit.
Exciting and
versatile, explores the huge variety of thoughts, options and
possibilities. Very curious and sometimes inquisitive.
Works with the
consciousness of their own ambivalence, concerned with their own mind,
frames of thinking and perception, and their immediate surroundings.
General
characteristics (unconscious and conscious):
-
Sociable and
expressive (hands), seeks the company of others for interaction, needs to
expand the field of interpersonal contact and of human experience in
general to obtain a certain exchange and meet the unknown.
-
Free choice and free
determination.
-
Explores the immediate
environment and tries to make sense of it, driven to understand and
explain reality..
-
Intellectually
oriented, can be very logical, able to synthesize the varied components of
data with insight, though less analytical than Virgo, but also more
creative and poetical. Tries to enrich and expand the personality with
knowledge and the memory of his perceptions, even though he doesn’t
necessarily know yet for what use.
-
Connection between
lower and higher mind.
-
A strong urge to
classify their experiences so that they fit in the mind’s structure.
Need for ‘intellectual security’ as the enormous amount of interaction
and changes in experience lead to psychological changes within.
-
Concepts like
language, mythology, (basic) ethical, magical or scientific systems find
their way into the human mind, so that the experiences don’t just keep
coming without any meaning or function, and the personality doesn’t get
lost in or crushed by that mass of impressions and perceptions.
-
First faint
flickerings of the intuition.
-
Reporting skills,
likes to gather information and knowledge of all kinds, scope of interests
is extremely varied, never-ending quest for fresh info, which often means
a lack of time for in depth focus on one subject.
-
Concerned with the
main facts and condensing information from longer articles, written
clearly and precisely, can provide it all in a nutshell.
-
Accumulating data for
the purpose of reciting that, which was learned, and then moving on to the
next thing (cf. Sagittarius, but without purpose, no goal to reach, solely
for the sake of exploration).
-
Sign of youth (cf.
Aries), retains youth for long years, importance of staying alive and
mentally active as a fountain of youth. Its energy is naturally very quick
and alert, nervous, reacts immediately upon perceptions of the senses or
of consciousness, once curiosity is roused. Never fully grows up, manages
to hold onto childlike qualities, which enable him to enjoy life all the
way.
-
Ever changing,
adapting to its environment like a whirlwind of air. Very versatile,
lively, quicksilver and playful energy.
-
Articulate, enjoys the
‘taste’ of words and is skilled in using them, likes punch-lines and
jokes, games in general, witty.
-
Very curious, little
respect for privacy or secrecy, tends to question anything.
-
Tends to bore easily,
when conversation or action gets in a rut, new things, people or
situations are found to be exciting, satisfy the curious nature (cf
novelty wave)
-
When free expression
of this oscillating energy is denied, may act and sound very scattered and
superficial; vast quantities of knowledge
may come out as inconsequential trivia.
-
No matter how much
interaction and communication is involved, he may remain unconcerned and
detached, missing an interest for the function and goal of these
processes.
-
When the rational
thinking faculties are obstructed, there can be shallow analysing without
depth, showing in turn a lack of understanding.
-
Analysing a situation
to death without reaching a rational conclusion (loopholes of the
intellect!) is a form of blocked energy for air signs in general.
Reflections:
·
Likes to explore their own thought patterns.
Tendency to get lost in the
perception of this myriad of thought forms, ideas, theories, languages and
perspectives on life.
·
Verbose, talkative for
the sake of talking. May use his verbal talents on others to obtain what
he wants or just to affirm his feeling of intellectual superiority.

involved.

concepts through speech, written word and all kinds of communication.
·
Can
reach a more subtle and spiritual understanding of human nature, conscious
of the limitations of intellectual perception but also of its important
possibilities and function in an intermediary phase. Scientific mind.
LIBRA
d
-
experience
brought to the personality =
awareness of others
-
contribution
made through this sign =
awareness of the need for balance
-
key to understanding
its energy = its need to be on the side of what is perceived
to be progressive
Aerial, intellectual nature - Initiating quality -
Soul focus
Ongoing
activity to bring everything in a more balanced state. Weighs and
evaluates everything and compensates the negative with the positive. The
ideal is to balance good and evil, so that, in a manner of speaking, they
may cancel each other out.
Transition from
materialism towards another type of more spiritual awareness, bringing
balance between those two aspects, achieving a balance of energies.
Emergence of
the importance of relating to what is not considered as self, concerned
with the building of a society instead of the personality.
General
characteristics (unconscious and conscious):
-
Recognizes the other individual on a one-to-one basis, and
initiates such relationships.
-
Active and conscious cooperation of the individual. Puts the
importance of the individual into another more social perspective. A more
precise vision and understanding becomes possible. Importance of
perception.
-
New energies become available through groupwork and social
interaction, that allow a lesser degree of separation and the possibility
to relate with others in a meaningful way.
-
These energies propel one’s consciousness in a more dynamic
state. There is a deep need for genuine social interaction, because one
has developed a real insight, understanding and integration of social
values.
-
Seeks to attain balance of self and other in finer and finer
degrees.
-
This energy can at best bring
excellent leaders of group activities, who can solve contradictions, and
guide the group towards a kind of unity and harmony.
-
New life as
participant in the community life, in a larger group. Has seen what his
right place is, in his group as well as in the world. Opens the path of
service to the group.
-
Very idealistic, theorizes about the
ideal group and the ideal form of cooperation or social pattern. Is
very serious about human relation(ship)s. Sees the necessity of human
interaction and living together in an organic, stable and permanent
structured community, and elevates this to an ideal.
-
Because of this
idealistic intensity, he might miss the chance of achieving his ideals and
put them to practice. He can also get so much out of balance when facing
quarrels and dissension, that he is subject to psychological exhaustion.
-
May be inclined to exaggerate the importance of social factors
under certain circumstances, because his awareness is mingled with
feelings and emotions that are still very individualistic. May resent
social obligations or think that he is expected to sacrifice his
individuality. Fears others’ judgment, to be found in fault towards the
group or community, because in fact he fears to slip back into
individualism.
-
Very adaptive, able to blend with any type of situation, which can
be motivated by a certain pride and the idea that he won’t be able to
meet expectations, in the family as well as in society.
-
May become restless and nervous because of a constant need for
compensation. Periods of moodiness and despondency are followed by periods
of excessive diligence in community and group work.
-
May seem opportunistic and unreliable on the surface, because he is
prepared to do everything to conform to what the group or collective
expects from him, but also to anything that he thinks might be expected
from him.
-
On a more material level, concerned with charm, beauty, art,
culture and esthetics, preoccupied by harmony in the form, form as a tool
for uniting dispersed elements into coherent patterns that are orderly and
beautiful.
-
Very concerned with
values, tries to gauge the essential characteristics of things and
compares everything with the socially accepted standards. Needs to
establish values and measures, based on traditional or ideal social
standards, in order to arrive at a sound judgment.
-
Also interested in
justice and legal systems as a way of enforcing fair interaction, trade
and commerce as a way of exchanging goods and skills.
-
Lacks self-assurance,
so that he won’t make a judgment in the name of the community, but
simply to the best of his ability and insight, and as objectively as
possible.
-
Social usefulness and
the capacity to adapt when working with others are the two major standards
he will use to define his values.
-
Artistic, in the sense
that in art he can achieve the organisation and patterns of which he
dreams for human society. Has
a vision of the ‘ideal community’, but isn’t able to build it yet,
so he lets his loving and harmonious energy shine through artwork. Brings
visions of harmony into society.
Reflections:
·
Interaction between the self and the other,
art of relating to others, sociability.
·
Emergence of the
concepts of informed opinion and conscious choice, deciding what action
must follow in accordance to the knowledge one has (prepared in Gemini).
·
Can show an important
lack of resolve and a paralyzing inertia when unable to discern what is
important or not.
·
Emergence of abstract
concepts such as justice, fairness, harmony, equality, peace, etc and of
the conviction that those values will bring good to humanity if applied
consciously throughout society (link with Aquarius).
·
Is more able to
influence than to build up himself, will let others do the work.
·
Secretly fears to
loose his personality and individuality, which may cause much indecision
and hesitation, and even rigidity.

to discern things in a new (social) context, works with objectively
evaluated values, and initiates choice from a clear-cut perspective (the
judicial mind).

intellect, aware of his visionary talents, but also of the necessity to
share his ideas and work with others, if they are to be realized one day.
·
Able to fully
understand the point that someone else is making, and take that into
account because of the argument’s value. Opens up to someone else’s
concepts and ideas.
Stillness, becomes
open to meditation and the possibility of mental focus (to be developed in
Sagittarius), cf. EA’s interlude of balance: “Before Creation, silence
and the stillness of a focussed point.”
