Work in Progress: DKF Students share their work

The D.K. Foundation is now five years old and in that time many students have been and gone and some who arrived early on are still with us, making real progress. Each student featured in Work in Progress has made headway because he or she has cleared a space in their lives to make room for their astrological studies and worked consistently hard.

In Work in Progress these students share their work and are willing to answer any questions that interested website visitors might want put to them, whether those questions are about their work, their experience of being with the Foundation, or about astrology in general. There is no party line. Students are encouraged to speak honestly about their experiences.

TAURUS

Earthy, material nature - Persevering quality - Personality focus

Stubborn, concrete and steadfast. Impulse to take root in fertile soil, seeks a contact with the planet that is essential / fundamental to its development. Finds comfort and a hold in matter, committed to matter and Earth, and gets back the support needed to get on with life in a grounded and harmonious way.

Stable, reliable, certain of the ability to work through obstacles and density and manifest what is wanted (desired or aspired).

Grounding and stabilization of energy through physical manifestation.

General characteristics (unconscious and conscious): organic, green

-         Practical approach of things, functional, desires to see practical results, understands that results can be obtained through constant and steadfast effort, concentrates her activity to achieve an objective.

-         Very sensuous and tactile, sense of touch is very important, relies on her senses in general. Identifies with the material world.

-         Recognizes that incarnation and working with solid matter provides the opportunity to manifest results, importance of concrete expression of energy.

-         Energy meets physical resistance and leads to a sense of practical organization and boundaries, the need for stability makes that one understands the utility of limitation; productive use of the available energy and its fertile potential when it meets matter, always in a loving and supporting manner.

-         Grounds into Earth’s ways and understanding.

-         Transmutation of desire into aspiration, darkness gives place to light and illumination... (The Eye of the Bull).

-         Values money, music, and nature, basically fond of the ‘good life’: good food, sex, music, movies, books and money. Likes gifts and presents, to receive as well as to give. Motivated to create and manifest things of beauty and value.

-         Takes pleasure in nature, needs to be near nature, enjoys sunrise and sunset, likes the opportunity to own her own little piece of Earth, to plant, weed and nurture, concepts of fertility and growth take root, the good nourishing earth.

-         Reliable, loyal and steadfast.

-         Patient, takes their time, don’t like to be rushed into anything.

-         Very loving and affectionate.

-         Likes the role of provider, self-sufficiency is very important, need to develop one’s own resources and earn a living; enjoys cooking for others, be the host of visitors.

-         Land, holding the homestead something personal (that one owns).

-         Possessive, holds onto things, accumulates (material) possessions.

Reflections:

·        Importance of and sometimes exaggerated focus on the concept of property, a sense of things belonging to the self.

·        Staying one’s ground, defensive and stubborn, refusing all flexibility or change. Needs to maintain the status quo for the sake of comfort and material security, immobility out of indulgence. Can throw her whole weight into a situation to lock it and prevent it to evolve because it doesn’t suit one’s personal preferences or when too uncomfortable.

·        Blinded personality - focused on what is present and oblivious of the potential that change may bring about.

·        Innate charm and sensuality, is totally at ease in incarnation, may indulge in sensuality and material comfort and routine.

CONSCIOUS :

·        Deep commitment to tackle concrete obstacles with one’s entire strength and conviction, even though they may seem huge, « slowly but surely ».

·        Determined to put her endurance and patience to practical and purposeful use, being constructive.

·        Functional awareness that evolution starts from the rough and concrete substructure and needs solid and fertile foundations to develop upwards. Creates the foundation necessary to attain the highest point (Capricorn).

Earthy, material nature - Experimenting quality - Personality focus

Ripening of self-confidence, applying faith in the positive outcome and that everything will be fine, “what has been sown shall be reaped”, trust and patience come into fruition.

Testing of the concrete possibilities for evolution, using form and order (rules), experiments with physical necessities and conditioning.

Exploration of one’s practical abilities and physical characteristics and what results they may bear or to what use they may be put.

General characteristics (conscious and unconscious):

-         Consciousness that is mainly preoccupied with the analysis and reaction to the type of development that has taken place in Leo, or with the further development of it.

-         Self-criticism. Series of questions for which one wants specific and practical answers.

-         Concerned with being individually productive within the boundaries that she is subjected to. Aware of the wear and physical and nervous limitations that go with incarnation.

-         Energy that can categorize, learn new skills and apply those to tasks at hand. Adaptation.

-         Develops techniques to achieve maximal results with a minimum of efforts, waste and destructive tension, and without losing time. Tries to integrate these techniques into daily life and become the master, technically speaking, of her life. Hardworking, strifes to eliminate all waste of energy.

-         Through this type of training of the self, she becomes able to adapt to each new situation smoothly and without doing herself wrong. Shows practical and flexible intelligence.

-         Is compelled to learn to objectify her own behaviour, and not to overlook her own flaws. Wants to be totally honest and unbiased when assessing her own and others’ performances, dispassionate, longs for purity and sharp discernment. Is sometimes able to see details nobody else will notice.

-         Concerned with being ‘pure’ herself, in the sense of eliminating what isn’t aligned with her personality and convictions about what is useful or not. This is on the physical level as well as on other levels. Contracting force, crystallisation of matter, only that which has enough strength (value), may survive through this contraction and hardening. Strength of character, sober and reliable, practical and economic, tough.

Emergence of a concrete sense of responsibility and loyalty / faith, to concentrate on the manifestation of what must reach full importance.

Necessity to make what one understands as the meaning / function / goal of life, the focal point through which to live it, instead of resigning for a comfortable existence, but still within existing structures (social and cultural concepts of community).

General characteristics (unconscious and conscious):

-         Initiates and manifests a tangible expression of identity, mostly concerned with integrity. Very motivated to manifest something tangible.

-         Crystallisation of the social ideals in the state structure, with firm boundaries and a materialized social organization. Creates and maintains physical and social structures.

-         Conservative, serious, practical, tends to keep tight control. Concerned with restrictions and boundaries.

-         Abides the law and is reliable, very loyal, a pillar of society. Implements the laws and truths of the universe discovered in Sagittarius in society.

-         Her approach is reserved, cautious and methodic and she likes to plan ahead, and because she is so responsible she generally has a good sense of timing.

-         Realistic. Learns most from her own experiences and in so doing may acquire precious wisdom that changes her way of life in a definite manner and thus becomes a master of knowledge.

-         Importance of a professional occupation and the fulfilling of a social function. A prominent position in life is important, the result of ambition and executive capabilities. But generally doesn’t want to draw to much attention.

-         In the most negative sense can be narrow-minded, pessimistic, resigned and cynical, unwilling to respond to life’s challenges.

-         When the head rules the heart, can be very materialistic, hard, selfishly ambitious and manipulative, cruel, bitter and proud.

-         Also political manipulation and corruption.

Reflections:

·        Instinctive and very practical intelligence, nonsensical and to the point.

·        Serious, consistent with herself, can come over as grave and sombre, shows authority and responsibility.

·        Concerned with making one’s way in the world and materializing what is expected, manifesting achievement and success.

CONSCIOUS :

·        Heightened aspirations. The personality has reached maturity and is able to serve the higher self and to solve complex and difficult problems because she sees and understands that it needs to be done.

·        Very mature and capable to work within seemingly restrictive environments, sees the material possibilities (social power, money,…) as legitimate and valid tools to achieve the higher goal.
