The Ten Commandments on Everyday Living: 3
Keep your living and working environment clean and tidy

Bottlebrush – (Callistemon Linearis)

This small tree/shrub grows its flowers in late spring. The tiny white flowers contain the fiery red stamen, which make up the majority of the flower and they are about 10 centimetres long.

This beautiful plant does not really require an explanation as to why it has got its name. And to do its name honour, the Bottlebrush essence helps to clean out. It is an excellent essence for letting go of things no longer needed, or to help you through major transitions.

It helps to brush away the past and allows a person to move on to new beginnings. An excellent essence to start 2006 with! This essence aids the flow of life. A clean and healthy mind, one without too many attachments to material things and old issues being clung onto, spills out into the environment: as within, so without, this way it helps you to keep your environment clean and tidy. If you begin to focus now clearing out the old on a mental, emotional and physical level, you will do better at the spring equinox. The equinox is a natural cleanser and many do a fast at this time.

Also as per previous articles:

Black Eyed Susan: helps to slow down and centre one’s focus. It is the stress remedy

Sundew: Enhances attention to detail, procrastination

This month I have included some other essences that are good to start the year with, as they will all strengthen your New Year’s resolutions.

Sturt Desert Rose – Gossypium Sturtianum

This compact shrub has flowers that look like hibiscus and grows 1 to 2 metres tall. It grows on rocky or stony slopes of dry creek beds.
This is a wonderful essence if you feel you are held back by some passed event or issue and still feel bad about it. Regret and guilt are major issues for holding someone back. They lead to self-criticism and fault finding. This essence can set you free from it and move you on. It helps to find your inner convictions and morality.

It can also help if you feel that there is pressure of a group and you feel you have to conform to their standards. Teenagers for example have a very strong need to be accepted by their peers. Maybe you feel that parents are projecting too much of their expectations on to you.

People needing this essence can be very apologetic and can put themselves down and can sometimes wallow in their own inadequacy as a form of self-indulgence. They set high standards can find it difficult to live up to them which in turn results again in feeling inadequate and guilty. They often take on the responsibility if something goes wrong, without it being their fault (if only I would have done this or that, it would not have happened!). This essence can help them to get on with things.

Angelsword – Lobelia Gibbosa

This little flower has two resemblances, one: it looks like a monk in a purple robe and two: it resembles a sword. When you put the two together, you get spiritual protection.
It allows and enhances spiritual discernment, to help people to find out what their own spiritual truth is, rather than just accepting other’s spiritual messages, teachings or books. As we know, there are many untrustworthy messages being channelled from the astral plane.
This essence assists to establish clear messages from your higher self. It works on the energy field by closing the aura if it is too open and negative energies are consuming. This can result in a person feeling drained or affected by these heavier energies. It can cut the cord between two people if one is draining the other.
Take this essence if you want be unobstructed by others energy and feel ‘self-contained’

Fringed Violet – Thysanotus Tuberosus

This little plant belongs to the lily family and only grows around 14 centimetres high and the flowers open only for one morning before they fade.
The fringed edges of the petals actually resemble an aura and restoring the aura is its main function, especially after trauma or shock. The etheric body is the main energy it works on.
It is said that it works hand in hand with Angelsword and that Fringed Violet heals any break in the aura while Angelsword releases energies that entered the aura whilst it was wide open.

It is good to use these last two in combination if you feel plagued by interference from other’s energy - on our plane or the astral plane.

Recommended dosage: 7 drops morning and night for 3-4 weeks when needed.
