This
summer we are looking at the things that we can do to help ourselves in
the on-going battle against negativity and inertia.
Irma
Vocht who was featured in our Friends of the
Foundation slot in April 2005 will
be writing a series of articles about conditions that are responsible for
inactivity and under achievement, and recommending flower essence
remedies.

FROM FEAR OF
LIVING TO LOVING LIFE
Irma
Vocht SDS Hom
What are
some of the reasons that prevent us from moving on and what makes us being
stuck in life? These questions will be addressed in the following articles
by suggesting appropriate remedies to help.
When we
consider that most of us lead unfulfilling lives, it is not surprising
that more people than ever are on anti-depressants or drinking to numb the
pain. It is only when we are in tune with our purpose, that life’s
energy begins to flow properly.
All of us
have some knowledge about what we ought to be doing or what we would like
to be doing – but why aren’t we doing it? FEAR. This is the main
reason. Fear takes on many forms, like: fear of being unloved, of being
alone, rejection, that something bad will happen, of being hurt, of
misfortune, fear of the opinion of others. All these things can cripple us
– literally.
As babies
we have no fear – we just are. So this fear comes from learned attitudes
from parents and other teachers. Then people threaten to take the love
away when we are children by saying if you don’t behave or do as I say I
will be disappointed in you, and this affects my love for you (you are a
bad person).
So
gradually and without our knowledge, we allowed people to manipulate us
into this fear state, because without the love of others, we imagine that
the world will fall apart and we end up feeling that we are somehow
flawed. This can eventually lead to being a major block in our lives as
fear stops us from doing what is necessary.
However,
sometimes it is difficult to identify that we are stuck, as all we feel is
an overwhelming or an overruling emotion that we cannot let go of. That is
the indication of stuckness. This is not going with the flow.
Have a
good think about what your ‘issues’, ‘flaws’ or ‘fears’ might
be, and try to think where they have come from. Because the first step to
overcome your blocks is to recognise what they are. If you vaguely know
what they are, make space for yourself and try to gain a deeper
understanding and accept that this is part of you – there’s no
changing about that! These things are there and have made you what you are
now. There is no going back! Just accept you the way you are now. Do not
see it as part of you that needs suppressing. Admit to yourself that there
is this issue and try to work through it - Integrate it as part of your
personality. Anything that is suppressed can rise in the body as a form of
dis-ease. If you have problems identifying your fears, you could seek help
from a professional.
You might
feel that your issues are too painful to dig up from your subconscious
where you have safely stored them away. If this is the case, you could try
to imagine that you are watching a film where actors play out your role
– this way you can distance yourself from the painful memories. Try not
to become emotionally involved and don’t identify with the lead role,
but just observe how the actors behave from a safe distance. You might
even feel this time that without being emotionally involved, you will see
the situation differently.
Once you
have identified some of your blocks, you can do a lot to help yourself.
We can help ourselves by resorting to homeopathy or flower essences
or many other solid alternatives. I will discuss some remedies that can
help release trauma, family patterns, attitudes and a whole range more.
The Australian Bush Flower Essences are truly amazing in their quality and
effectiveness. They are up to date and in tune with what our world and
everything in it is going through. They work worldwide, not just on the
continent where they came from. They are fairly easy to obtain and to
administer, without any danger – as the remedy balances; it goes to
where it’s needed. Homeopathy is more specific – it needs case-taking
to be fully effective, but some really powerful changes can be
accomplished.
In
healing with plants and minerals, we draw on information and
characteristics of the substance, called the ‘doctrine of signatures’
as well as chemical analysis and other ways.
The
Doctrine of Signatures took shape as a spiritual philosophy that had as
its base in the simple concept that God had marked everything he had
created with a sign. This
sign was a clear indicator of the item's true purpose as intended by God.
The signature is an indication of the purpose for the creation. Galen
(A.D. 131-200) refers to this in a non-specific way in his texts, a man
named Boehme wrote about it and Paracelsus, the father of modern chemistry
utilised the Doctrine of Signatures in its medical application in the
1600’s. Much in the same way we can tell a person who’s haughty,
lacking in confidence or angry. We look at body language and expression.
It’s the same with plants. We can tell by their stature what
characteristics can be attributed (or how it makes you feel when you look
at the plant).
The
wonderful characteristic about flower essences is that the soul of the
remedy can be applied in various ways; a proud plant can give a person
more pride or can help someone who’s too proud find some humility – it
is balancing – its energy goes to where it is needed. As long as the
issues of the person are recognised and matched with the essence of the
plant, you can’t go far wrong. I must emphasise that not the physical
substance of the plant is used in flower essences, but their energy.
Therefore it is safe and can not interfere with medications used.
Combinations
of several essences can be made for various issues to be addressed.
On a
recent visit to the Vincent van Gogh museum in Amsterdam, I saw two quotes
Vincent wrote to his brother. I felt these were very central to the theme
I am working presently on with regard to doing these articles and want to
share them in case it will ring some truth within you and bring you
strength.
The
creative power cannot be repressed; one must give vent to what one feels.
(1883).
The
way to succeed is to keep one’s courage and patience, and work on
energetically. (1886).
